The EU-funded AURORA project (Tackling Climate Change), supported by the Citizen Science Global Partnership (CSGP) and the EU Climate Pact, is inviting volunteers from the global citizen science community to join a Working Group dedicated to agreeing on common citizen science methods for climate change mitigation.
This invitation is extended to EU Climate Pact Ambassadors, members of the EU Education4Climate Group, and participants from the Green Deal Support Office (GDSO) Knowledge and Citizen Science Cluster.
The Working Group's objective is to build upon existing citizen science initiatives addressing climate change and develop a shared framework of 3–4 standard methods, tools, and database systems. These will be promoted across Europe and made accessible to the wider global community. The initiative will be officially launched and promoted at the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA7) in Nairobi, December 2025.
A draft Terms of Reference and a promotional flyer are attached for further details. The first online meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, 25th June from 13:00 to 14:00 CEST, with monthly meetings continuing until UNEA7.

This initiative supports the Citizen Science Global Partnership’s mission to significantly scale up citizen science efforts addressing global challenges, particularly in reducing carbon emissions through direct citizen action.
